The signs and symptoms of lupus can depend on whether the condition is mild, or severe. They can develop slowly or extremely fast. Lupus can affect any body system in the body. the type of symptoms the person receives depends on where lupus is affected in the body.

- Fatigue- About 90 percent of people with lupus experience at least some form of fatigue. Though naps help, too much sleep in the afternoon can lead to insomnia in the night. It is best to talk to a doctor if the fatigue occurs too much in a day.
- Fever- The reason for fever in people with lupus is unknown. The fever occurs with low temperature so it may seem you do not need to see a doctor for it, but you should.
- Butterfly-rash on cheeks and bridge of the nose
- Chest pain- The chest tightens. This symptom does not occur in everyone but certain kinds of people.
- Dry Eyes and eyes- People with lupus also develop Sjogren’s disease, which is another autoimmune disease that causes the glands responsible for tears and saliva to stop working.
- Headaches- Occurs in certain types of people.
- At times, memory loss.
- Hair Loss- Hair loss is the first symptom people with lupus receive. It is caused by inflammation of the scalp.
- Swollen Joints- Inflammation of the joints causes this; especially in the morning.
- Kidney problems- **All symptoms of lupus come and go**
